Principal Planner

The City of Concord California, a growing Bay-Area city of 127,000 residents located in central Contra Costa County, is currently seeking to fill two (2) Principal Planner vacancies in the Community and Economic Development Department. One of the positions will supervise Current Development staff, and the other position will oversee long range planning and sustainability policy development, implementation and management. Both positions will report to the Planning Manager. Candidates who successfully pass the selection process will be placed on the hiring list, based on rank, for further consideration to fill the current regular vacancies, as well as others occurring over the next 12 months.

The ideal Principal Planner candidate possesses extensive professional planning experience. S/He possesses extensive experience in long range planning projects, including Specific Plan development/implementation and General Plan amendments/updates. S/He has the ability to manage multiple projects and staff while concurrently adhering to established budgets and timeframes.

The Principal Planner reports to the Planning Manager and provides management-level supervision to both associate and senior planning staff on long range projects.
