The City of Buena Park is looking for a planning intern to join its Community Development/Planning Division Team. The ideal candidate is someone who is smart, energetic, and innovative in their approach to Community Development/Urban Planning. This is a great opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate student who wants to expand their knowledge of planning in a municipal setting.
As an intern, there will be opportunities to work independently on research projects related to advanced planning, historical preservation, and land use/zoning projects. In addition, this position will assist in group projects related to high profile (and sometimes controversial) projects which will require dynamic, unique and innovative approaches to community engagement.
The ideal candidate is an undergraduate or graduate college student majoring in architecture, urban planning, geography, or related field. Previous city planning experience is highly desirable. The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing is also required. The ability to deal with a diverse population such as contractors, developers, realtors, citizens, staff and elected officials with tact and diplomacy is necessary to be successful in this position.
Interested candidates should file a concise and complete City application regarding their qualifications for the position with the City of Buena Park as soon as possible. Candidates should visit the City’s website to download a City Application at www.buenapark.com/hr.
