“Cities have the capability of providing something for everybody, only because, and only when, they are created by everybody.” – Jane Jacobs, author
The City of Newport Beach will embark on an update of its 2006 General Plan and will be using a consulting firm who is interested in working to engage and activate the community. Careful and consistent community engagement is more important than ever when updating a General Plan. The City of Newport Beach is intending to begin the process later this year by sending out a Request for Proposals (RFP). Although the full scope of the update has not been finalized at this early stage, focus areas would include reexamining the vision for several key geographic areas, updating the Land Use, Circulation, and Safety Elements, addressing sustainability policies, and ensuring consistency with the City’s recently certified Local Coastal Program Implementation Plan. If interested in receiving a Request for Proposals (RFP), please send contact information to James Campbell, Principal Planner at firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to the interest list.
