The City of Santa Ana is seeking an Executive Director to oversee an agency that includes Planning, Building Safety (New Construction and Permits & Plan Check) and Community Preservation. The Executive Director works closely with the City Council, City Manager, other City departments, Planning Commission, Historic Resources Commission, and the community to manage the processes that guide and sustain the development and preservation of the city. The ideal candidate will thoroughly understand the principals and objectives of urban and environmental planning, building construction regulatory responsibilities, and the vision of the City as it pertains to community preservation and development. This individual will have the proven ability to guide and direct a large staff of qualified professionals in achieving the Department’s mission in a densely urban, culturally diverse community.
Requires Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in public administration, urban planning or related field and a minimum of five years of progressively responsible management experience.
Salary: $121,032 – 170,976 per year plus management benefit program.
