Historian

Charles Smith, AICP, LEED AP, is Business Group Leader – Natural Resources & Impact Assessment, for consulting firm GHD. Charles has over 25 years of experience in environmental impact assessment services for planning, development, and public works infrastructure projects. He has held leadership roles in project/program management, operations, business development, and education/training. His professional interests include environmental compliance, historic preservation, and sustainable development.

Charles holds a M.Pl. in Urban and Regional Planning and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California. He is professionally certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), and is credentialed as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP) in Building Design and Construction (BD+C) by the US Green Building Council (USGBC). Charles is membership coordinator for Preserve Orange County, a local non-profit organization committed to heritage conservation.

Fun Fact.

Charles is an accomplished drummer and has played in various bands over the years, including the APA/AEP Jam Band!
