Administrative Intern (Planning Intern)

Under immediate supervision, receives training and participates in a variety of projects and
programs in support of an assigned department. The current vacancy is for the Planning
Division of the Community Development Department.

The Administrative Intern is a training classification specifically designed to provide on-the-job
training to current students in pursuit of an associate’s, bachelor’s, or advanced degree. The
employee performs administrative, technical, and/or professional duties in support of the
assigned department, with actual duties dependent upon position assignment. Assignments are
intended to both help the City meet its business objectives as well as provide the Administrative
Intern with exposure to municipal government projects, programs, and processes. An employee
in this classification works under direct supervision and performs increasingly responsible duties
as experience is gained. Though the position is intended for current students, an incumbent may
continue to be employed in this position for up to 12 months after graduation.

Graduation from high school and current enrollment in an accredited college or university in
pursuit of an associate’s, bachelor’s, or advanced degree with a major course of study in public
administration, business administration, or a field related to the specific position assignment.
