NUISANCE-FREE BARS Training for Planners

May 30 @ 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

| $250

Who Should Attend?
• Community Development Directors and Planning Managers
• Planners
• Planning Commissioners
• Code Enforcement Officers
• City Council Members – Can guide changes that can reduce city costs (“alcohol
footprint”)
• Law Enforcement Personnel tasked with documenting conditions of approval for
use permits or entertainment permits
What You’ll Learn
Planners learn to apply research-supported “best and smart practices” in
formulating and writing conditions of approval for on-sale alcohol businesses. Armed
with this know-how, planners can exercise their full capacity to influence the
development of a healthy community.
Planning commissioners learn how to impact new alcohol businesses and existing
businesses having their permits reviewed
Code enforcement officers learn the “why” behind the conditions they enforce
City council members learn how to reduce city public safety expenses tied to their
alcohol businesses
Law enforcement officers learn key conditions of approval that reduce high-risk
intoxication and violence inside drinking establishments. For those officers not involved
in documenting conditions of approval, we recommend they attend the next Training for
Law Enforcement workshop, where they can learn research-supported best and smart
practices in working with new, existing, and disorderly bars.
